Tunç Soyer, the councillor of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), member of Global Board of Directors of International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) and Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will attend the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. Mayor Soyer who will be in Glasgow until 7 November, will take part as a speaker in four sessions within the scope of the summit, as well as make various contacts.
Tunç Soyer, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, will attend the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) which will be held in Glasgow between 31 October-12 November 2021. Mayor Tunç Soyer will make a speech in four sessions within the scope of the summit, representing Izmir, as well as many world cities, as a councillor of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and member of Global Board of Directors of International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), until 7 November. Mayor Tunç Soyer is known internationally for his works in the areas such as fight against the climate crisis, culture and resilient cities.
Mayor Tunç Soyer will visit Ümit Yalçın, Turkey’s Ambassador to London, in Glasgow and attend the Republic Ball organized by the British Union of the Republican People's Party as the guest of honour. President Soyer will speak at the Culture and Youth session on Friday, 5 November at COP26, and on the same day he will be the speaker of the session titled Role of Arts, Culture, Heritage in Climate Resilience Sustainable Development. President Soyer will attend the International Legislative Assembly (GLOBE International-Legislators COP26 Assembly) at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on 6 November. On the same day, he will speak at the Glasgow Food and Climate Declaration event and sign the Declaration.

The UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, which brings together world leaders every year to combat climate change, is being held for the 26th time this year. The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties will also bring countries together to accelerate actions towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
