Izmir which is the main city of Turkish fair business, will host 31 fairs in 2022.
 
Izmir, the city of fairs, will encounter colourful and lively days throughout the fairs to be held in 2022. In addition to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Soyer, Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of the Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Ender Yorgancılar, the President of the Board of Directors of Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO), Zekeriya Mutlu, Chairman of Izmir Union of Chamber of Merchants and Craftsmen( İESOB), Dr. Faruk Güler, CEO of Aegean Freezone Development & Operating Co., Mustafa Özlü, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor, Dr. Buğra, Gökçe, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General , Canan Karaosmanoğlu Alıcı, Vice President of the Executive Board of Izmir Fair Services Cultural and Art Affairs Trade Inc.(İZFAŞ), representatives of Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), bureaucrats and members of the press participated in the meeting. 
 
Soyer: “We will continue to improve our contributions to the exports and the city”
Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer who gave the opening speech in the meeting, noted that 21 provinces including Izmir have succeeded exceeding a billion-dollar threshold in exports in 2021, and stated "İzmir has become the fourth largest exporting city in Turkey’’. Having managed to establish a connection between Izmir and the world, İZFAŞ has no doubt undertaken a significant role in increasing exports throughout Turkey. We are determined to have Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ continue to improve contributing to our sectors, exports and to the city’s economy in 2022. We will organize many fairs at Fair Izmir which is the Turkey's largest and most modern exhibition venue, in 2022 throughout all seasons. The number of fairs will be doubled, this year. Izmir will host 31 fairs in 2022, along with the guest fairs which İZFAŞ cooperates with," he said.
 
Ender Yorgancilar, the President of the Board of Directors of Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO), stated, “Izmir is an industrial city, these products should be exhibited. We can meet with the world through fairs and will continue to provide all kinds of support.”
 
Fairs carry our city to the future
Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of the Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce commented; "We see the fairs we own as important structures that bring our city to the future. We'll come together this year at brand-new fairs, as well as world-brand fairs. We will expand it together."
 
Zekeriya Mutlu, Chairman of Izmir Union of Chamber of Merchants and Craftsmen (İESOB) noted; "When you conduct a search on the internet for fairs, Izmir happens to be the first option that you will be served with. When you search for Izmir, as well, the fair is the first option to match. We are making an effort to serve our city, our country and the world by developing the legacy of Izmir and the fair."
 
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality’s fair services Company (İZFAŞ) transforms the concept of fair business into the timeline of four seasons with its fairs, festivals and cultural and art activities. Having increased the number of the fairs it has organized, İSFAŞ welcomed 34 sectors and 210 sub-sectors in the second half of 2021, hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Izmir which is the city of fairs in Turkey, also contributed significantly to the year-end export figure, which reached 225.4billion dollars with an increase of 32.9 percent. İzmir will host 31 fairs, including 11 new fairs in 2022, along with guest fairs.
 
Which are the new fairs?
While including the Terra Madre, Flowera, Logistech fairs into its events calendar, İZFAŞ will also organize Wecycle, Brandex, IBS Mother, Baby and the Child, Road, R&D, P&D Innovation Industry and Technologies, Imatech, Jewellery and Construction, Real Estate and Urban Transformation Fairs in cooperation with its business partners. Terra Madre Gastronomy Fair, led by the world’s largest food movement Slow Food, held in Italy every two years, will be organized this year in Kulturpark on September 2–11 under the name of Terra Madre Anadolu, Izmir. The fair which will be organized in Turkey for the first time, simultaneously with the 91. Izmir International Fair, will bring the small producers and the world together.
