INVITATION TO THE WORLD CITIES SUMMIT IN SINGOPORE |
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu was invited to the World Cities Summit to be held in Singapore in 2018.
A.Selverajah, Ambassador of Singapore to Ankara, visited İzmir Metropolitan Municipality with Murat Özyeğin, Singapore's Honorary Consul in İzmir. Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu said that Özyeğin, who has been appointed as the new Honorary Consul, was a very good choice and that he would make significant contributions for the development of relations. Mayor Kocaoğlu expressed that they have opened a new window into the local administrations since 2004, "We all deserve credits for the development of the city. In this regard, we will benefit Mr. Murat Özyeğin's suggestions," he added.
Ambassador A.Selverajah said that İzmir's prominence in sectors such as energy and petrochemicals provides strong advantages to the relations since Singapore is a leading state in those sectors, "Even our potential relations in these fields are stronger than İstanbul."
The Ambassador stated that they were impressed by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality to have succeeded in receiving 'the highest ratings' from international credit rating agencies and said, "Now it's the time to introduce İzmir to Singapore" before inviting Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu to the World Cities Summit to be held on July, 2018 in Singapore.
Expressing that he would be proud to participate in such an important event if his schedule fits, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor said, "We have a significant potential in tourism and service sectors as well as being an agricultural and industrial city. We have completed our infrastructure for fairs with Fair İzmir and will have taken an important step in medical tourism by establishing two big thermal facilities in Çeşme and Doğanbey. Singaporean investors can turn their steps towards tourism and service sectors in İzmir".
