Emre Üçkardeşler, the Head of Social Policies Department of UNICEF Turkey who speaks on the day of the Second Century Economics Congress made the representation of the “Second Century Economics Congress Child Charette.” Emre Üçkardeşler talked about UNICEF's work for children and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer also watched the presentation with interest. The Four students from distinctive schools, who got the stage to represent the children, talked about their work and anticipations. At the end of the presentation, President Soyer complimented the children by getting on the stage.
“A regime of rights stemming from being a child”
By Asking the question "Why children", Emre Üçkardeşler said, "There are two main answers for us. The first is moral dimension. Children are in the midst of rights regime stemming from childhood. There is also the analytical dimension of this. The Studies show us that social and individual investment in the child refers to the most productive and precious investment for the future of the country. On the one hand, we protect the inviolable rights of children, on the other hand, we provide the most essential human capital formation for the future of the country.”
“All children are within the context of UNICEF works ”
Emre Üçkardeşler emphasized that, in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF works in 190 countries to fulfill its commitments to children by the international community, stakeholders and states. Also, he used these statements. “We proceed to work with several associations to enhance the welfare of children, to enable all children to reach their full potential. All children, girls, boys, refugees, in the city, in the countryside, they are all within the context of UNICEF's work. We attach priority to the most disadvantaged and delicate groups in our works.”
