BAKU WILL WIN EXPO 2025 FOR IZMIR |
Khazar Ibrahim, the Azerbaijan Ambassador in Ankara and Dr. Asıf Kurban, Chairman of Azerbaijan Fellowship and Cooperation Association, visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
The Ambassador İbrahim met with the Acting Mayor Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan and reminded that Baku is a candidate of EXPO 2025. He added that Izmir has extensive experience in EXPO business and that they will win EXPO 2025 for Izmir. The visiting Ambassador underlined that Baku is a sister city of Izmir and added “Our roots, language, religion and also our future are united. Our country made its largest foreign investment in Izmir.
We are talking about an investment over 50 billion dollars. Star Refinery is to be commissioned in 2018. We will be back in Izmir with a broad participation for this special opening ceremony”. Izmir Metropolitan’s Acting Mayor Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan reminded that Izmir is two-time a candidate city for EXPO and lost with just a few number of votes and added “If Baku wins EXPO 2025, we will be happy as if we won it. Baku is a magnificent city. The two countries always have very close relationships. Izmir has parks, monuments and forests all around the city to memorialize our friendship with Azerbaijan.”
