Romania’s Ankara Ambassador Alexandru Tinca paid a visit to Tunç Soyer, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor in this office.
During the visit where the topic of the post-pandemic tourism was discussed, Mayor Tunç Soyer mentioned United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) Cultural Summit and the Terra Madre gastronomy fair in 2022, both of which will be hosted by Izmir, and said, "We must cooperate with you for your attendance to both organizations".
Mayor Tunç Soyer with Romania's Consul General in Izmir, Mioara Ştefan, expressed their hope for starting a new era for both countries after the pandemic and explained preparations for upcoming tourism season in Izmir. Mentioning the Orange Circle certificate given by Metropolitan Municipality to food and beverage and accommodation enterprises that meet the necessary criteria, Soyer emphasized that they are working to make Izmir a safe destination for tourists.
Ambassador Ştefan Alexandru Tinca stated that countries who has borders with the Black Sea can cooperate on tourism and said, "We can mediate to sign the town twinning protocol for Izmir and Constanta. In addition, we would like to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Izmir in terms of cultural, academic and economic aspects of the city.”
