Mexican Ambassador Amaral came to Izmir and visited Mayor Kocaoglu for the 200th anniversary of his country’s independence. 
 
Mexican Ambassador Jaime Enrique Inocencio Garcia Amaral was accompanied in his visit by Kemal Colakoglu, Mexico’s Honorary Consul in Izmir, and Varol Dereli, Mexico’s Honorary Consul in Istanbul.

Stating that they have been celebrating the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s independence and the 100th anniversary of the revolution in Mexico this year, the visiting ambassador said that Mexico wanted to have some collaboration on the matter with the countries with which Mexico has relations and that they would organise events in Ankara and Istanbul in the days to come. Stating that they have been working in harmony with the honorary consuls in Istanbul and Izmir, Ambassador Amaral said, "We are a good team."

Stating that they are very pleased with the visit paid by the Mexican Ambassador, Aziz Kocaoglu, Metropolitan Mayor of Izmir, said, "I wish this visit will be beneficial both for the two countries and Izmir."

Stating that the diplomatic relations between Mexico and Turkey has a background of 80 years, Kemal Colakoglu said, "Mexico has an honorary consul in Izmir for a total of 37 years. This shows the importance Mexico places on both Izmir and Turkey."
