Czech Republic Minister of Foreing Affairs in Izmir |
Czech Republic Minister of Foreing Affairs Lubomir Zaoralek and accompanying ministry bureaucrats visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu. Czech Republic Izmir Consular Agent Etem Özsoy companioned the commission. The minister Lubomir Zaoralek stated that they are very glad to be in Izmir and added that this city of sea is fascinating; “We’ve come here to make meeting on “Full Adoptive Traffic System” which will be carried out in Izmir and develop our trade collaboration. We’d like to strengthen strong bonds and friendship of Czech Republic and Turkey. Minister Zaoralek pointed out that second purpose of their visit is to exchange views related to the refugees.
“Since January, 60 thousand refugees have come to our borders. We appreciate the works done in Turkey about the refugees. We want to give concrete support as Czech Republic. Since we are in part of 3 billion euro support within EU and Turkey refugee support. However we have estimated to make 400 thousand extra aid for Turkey’s security in boarders. Is it more logical to make this aid for security controls at coast or to increase humanitarian support for refugees? We want to take your opinions about this subject?” he said.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu gave some replies that refugees not only come from Syria, but also from Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa countries and added that they aim at reaching European countries. Mayor Kocaoğlu said that all kinds of precautions can be taken, however if a man risks death and for his dear life, he can only be prevented by death. World is face to face to an insolubility. We have to find solutions for these people who risk their life to death. You mentioned that you experienced a problem when 60 thousand refugees came to your borders. In our country there are 2,5 million refugees. Due to the conflicts in Halep, the number will go up and we will face 3,5 million refugees soon. This number is more than many countries’ population. From my point of view, the problem should have been solved by United Nations in the beginning point, Syria by setting up secured camp areas in boarders. If this had been made, peace could have come to Syria much earlier. We have to find a solution to this case with developed countries at all hands.

Besides refugee problem, Mayor Kocaoğlu stated upon Czech Republic Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomir Zaoralek’s related questions. Zaoralek said “You have been mayor for 3 terms, you shall be very famous.”; he replied “We have been working to raise Izmir to highest point with true stories, with our own projects. As we have been just to the city and work hard, our citizens appreciate and give such a duty.”
