Thesselonike Acts for New Collaborations Thesselonike Municipality organized a meeting in Izmir for introduction of tourism, education and job opportunities of the city. Thesselonike Mayor Yannis Boutaris and Greece Ambassador of Ankara Kyriakos Loukakis attended the meeting which was held by Izmir Chamber of Commerce.
Thesselonike Mayor Yannis Boutaris thanked Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu and ITO Chairman of Board Ekrem Demirtaş for their support. Boutaris stated that when he came to Izmir, he feels like he’s home and added “I consider Turks as brothers and Europeans as partners.” Boutaris identified Izmir and Thesselonike as two sisters whose mother is Istanbul.
 
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu stated that Thesselonike and Izmir should strengthen their bonds through economical and cultural collaborations; as they have only 30 minutes flight distance between; “we should strengthen and make permanent the relations by maintaning friendship and dialogue between Turkey and Greece which has common cultural assets that can be identified as “humanity heritage”. 
 
Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu said “Through strong and mutual transmission line between our ports, we can be a very strategical bridge for Europe, Far East, Northeast Asia and Middle East. We will make very important collaborations in near future by joining Izmir and Thesselonike forces. 
 
Izmir Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board Ekrem Demirtaş said in his speech, Aegean Sea is a sea which does not seperate two countries, but bond; “We made a bond between Izmir and Thesselonike on air, now we it is time for sea. After sea transfers will be started, we will be much more closer. Thesselonike can be a door which is opened to Balkans and Europe. In the wake of air transfers, with sea transfers we can have a collaboration which tourism is stimulated and can be improved through trade. We should develop an integrated transmission line which starts with seaway on Izmir and reaches to Thesselonike and Europe by train. 
 
Greece Ankara Ambassador Kyriakos Loukais emphasized on that two cities have many common ways through history and added “Recently Izmir and Thesselonike are together at the front row. It has many contributions for two countries’ societies. Loukakis explained that Izmir is not only in the center of Greek only, but also Europe’s  center of attraction. Thesselonike Municipality Deputy Mayor Responsible for Tourism, International Affairs and E-Management, Spiros Pengas stated that he is very impressed with the hospitality in Izmir.
 
TURSAB Izmir Regional Chairman of the Board of Directos Rıza Gençay said “We’ve chosen North Greece with Thesselonike destination. We are happy to work with Greece islands. We will definitely carry this potential to our sister city.”
