EU Committee of Regions (COR) Turkey Work Group gathers in Izmir on 6th October Friday. Behind, Izmir Committee under the guidance of Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu goes to EU Center in Brussels.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality was awarded the European Council Plaque of Honour. While mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu was receiving “Plaque of Honor” from Erich Fritz, European Council Parlamenter Honorary Member, he stated that “Let’s specify Izmir as a pilot city to make social projects, urbanization, agriculture, tourism projects real and make Izmir a bridge which will carry Turkey to EU membership.”
EU Committee of Regions (COR) Turkey Work Group decided to make 17th meeting in Izmir. In the meeting which will be held in 2 sessions on 6th October Friday, subjects of “Subsidiarity: Strengthening Local Authorities” and “Local and Regional Strategies to Improve Work Places” will be discussed in detail. COR members and local authorities of nearly 300 from Turkey’s many cities will attend to the meeting in which opening speeches will be made by EU Committee of Regions (COR) Turkey Work Group Leader Jean-Luc Vanras and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Aziz Kocaoğlu.
Just after the meeting held in Izmir, a committee which represent business world and local authorities will be in touch with European Union Center in Brusselsfor two days, Belgium on 16th October. On the first day of the visit, Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu will meet with European Union Committee President Markku Markkula, then make a speech in European Union Committee Development Day Activity. Izmir Committee will meet EU Foreign Affairs High Commission, Turkey Permanent Representative at EU, European Parliament Turkey Spokesmanship, TUSIAD EU Representation Office and Brussel Representation Office of Republican People’s Party (CHP).
