Continued Cooperation with the International Finance Corporation
Directors of the World Bank International Finance Corporation (IFC) said that they see the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality as "the best practice sample" in their cooperation that they have made in global manner.
 
Another praise has come from the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality which preserves Fitch and Moody's "investible" credit rating.
 
IFC Water Waste and Municipality Financing Sector Global Manager Elena Bourganskaia visited the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and stated that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is the largest infrastructure and transportation project partner of IFC in Europe, Middle East and North Africa and said: "Our relations with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is very important for us strategically. WE have been deeply impressed with regard to your support and contribution to the projects which we have handled and carried out together. We use our relations with you as an example for the cooperation that we try to establish with all the other municipalities. We, together, have achieved many things up to this time."
 
New objective: Solid Waste Plant
Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu reminded that they have signed loan contract of 151 million euros with EFC for the last three-year-period on the issues such as Konak - Karsiyaka Tram, Traffic Management System and Fire Emergency Response projects, purchase of 85 subway cars, additional unit investment to increase the capacity of Cigli Waste Water Treatment Plant with IZSU and Yeni Foca Waste Water Treatment Plant under conditions "Treasury Warrantless and Unsecured" and emphasized an underlined that this good cooperation should go further and he has willing to make it further. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu said that solid waste disposal plant which is at the phase of environmental impact assessment, is one of the most important projects of the region and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and added that they want to get the same support for this project from IFC as the same that the Municipality have had for the previous projects and said: Our objective is to reach a stage already now and speed up the process." 
 
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Secretary-General Pervin Şenel Genç, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Assistant Secretary General Barış Karcı and Management Department Head Sibel Çoban and IFC Senior Investment Specialist Marco Sorge and IFC Operations Specialist Patrick Avato attended the meeting.
