Balçova Teleferic is on reuse after many years...
Teleferic facilities in Balçova that had been shut down due to the end of lifetime and have been re-built since now, re-met with Izmirians at the end of July.
The length of line of teleferic system that can carry 1,200 passengers per hour is 810 meters and its height is 316 meters. 20 gondolas each with the capacity of 8 passengers can provide service and the travel time is only 2 minutes and 42 seconds.
 
Cafeterias, Recreation Areas, View Terraces 
Visitors of facilities will be able to observe the views of the bay by using binoculars at the view terrace in the entrance section after getting off cabins. There are two two-storey rural-type teahouses and snack cafe which the visitors will be able to sit and enjoy the views of dam lake at the west part and a gozleme (Turkish waffle) and Turkish ravioli house at the eastern terrace of the facility. There are also a food sales market which will get attention of minor visitors, and a grilled cafe, a fast food cafe and a meat house and meat market from where you can provide barbecue for yourself.
 
Commissioning of Teleferic
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality had got report for need of improvement for Balçova Teleferic Facilities which had been established first in 1974 as a result of technical inspection performed by the Izmir Branch of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and the facility had been closed in 2008.
Projecting and construction process have been initiated in March 2013 as a result of finalized tender following cancelled construction tenders as a result of the implementation obligation pursuant to the "Regulations on Cable Handling Facilities Designed to Transport Human Beings" issued by the European Parliament and the European Union Council and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
 
The total cost of site grading and building for system, stations and promenade area of Balçova Teleferic Systems which have been completely taken over, was realized as 15.5 million Turkish Liras.
