YOUTH OF SISTER CITIES MET IN IZMIR |
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality welcomed 24 foreigners from 8 different sister cities and 4 Turkish students all aged 12-15 for "Sister Cities Youth Camp" with the aim of bringing people from different cultures together to create a warm bond between them, to contribute to peace and to strengthen relations with "Sister Cities".
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu received the young from the sister cities of Baku, Bremen, Cape Town, Kardzhali, Mostar, Tianjin, Wuhan and Volgograd at his office for the "Nice to Meet You" event organized in the Scouting and Nature Sports Center in Kaynaklar, Buca.
Mayor Kocaoğlu said that they had a good time and made new friendships at the camp and that they had the chance to know Turkey closely and added, "This course should be put to good use. I believe that a lovely event like the Youth Camp, which reinforces friendship between the sister cities, should be repeated every year."
Students declared that the İzmir dwellers were very friendly and that loved İzmir very much and expressed their appreciation to İzmir Metropolitan Municipality for their hospitality. Mayor Kocaoğlu presented various gifts to the students at the end of the visit.
In addition to daily trips to the İzmir Wild Life Park and Ephesus, activities such as cycling tour, rock climbing, archery and hiking and "My City, Your View" and "I'm Learning My Friend's Language." events took place for cultural exchanges.
