1. Solar Sludge Dryer establishment in Tahtalı Basin Wastewater Treatment Plant

Project Objective: Contribution to the dissemination of sludge (the end product of the wastewater treatment process) treatment using cost-effective renewable energy resources in Turkey, particularly in Izmir. It consist of the installment of the sludge drying plant by the project coordinator IMM Directorate General of Izmir Water and Sewage Administration,  recycling the sludge back into the economy and the environment.

Project Purpose
Creating a specific network of expertise on urban travel and open to other cities and institutions with the aim of sensitising local authorities in the region on the need to adopt policies and strategies on sustainable urban travel using existing synergies within MEDCITIES
To strengthen exchange and cooperation in urban transportation, with particular attention to South-South, East-East and South-East being the currently almost nonexistent

4. A Tripartite Cooperation to Developing City Museology

7. Agora Excavation House Restoration Project

Project Purpose
1. To restore the historical structure of 19th century domestic architecture present at the Agora Excavation Site at the Konak District of Izmir from the perspective of visual perception, and to promote it in architecture and restoration environments
2. To support the development of culture tourism at the City Centre by arranging interior functions of the structure to be restored as Agora Excavation House which will increase the number of finds exhibitable at the archaeology museum at the city centre and shed light on new academic studies drawn from these finds
3. To promote the Agora Excavation Site in archaeology environments in order to draw attention to the contribution the excavation site qualities improvement at the City Centre at the Konak District of Izmir will make to tourism

12. Cennetcesme Integrates with the City

1. Providing social support and investment to human resources within the scope of improving social statuses of Cennetcesme Neighbourhood inhabitants 
2. Developing education and vocational training opportunities of women and adolescents who are placed among disadvantaged groups in order to improve their employability by acquiring qualification

Project Purpose
1. Contributing to development of employment opportunities and income-generating activities in the Peninsula region of the Province of Izmir in a way that will accelerate social development of the region and Izmir; within this scope, dissemination of organic production in agriculture, which is the primary income source of the region, and promotion of rural population’s transition to organic agriculture
2. Improving information and awareness level and orientating of the public, primarily the rural population in the Peninsula region of the Province of Izmir, towards socio-economic development and organic production relations  
3.  Promoting persons who are willing to do environment-friendly production, will be pioneers of it, and are not doing certified production, contributing to improvement of their professional knowledge and skills in a pioneering way and constituting model practices for its dissemination in the Peninsula region of the Province of Izmir

14. Izmir’s Healthy Mothers

Project Purpose 
In line with Millenium Development Goals (MDGs): “Goal 5: Improve maternal health”, this project comprises of actions to raise consciousness and awareness of primarily women in reproductive age and of public about issues on maternal health and health service facilities in Izmir in order to, increase the low utilization rate of reproductive health services due to various factors. 
Consciousness and awareness of primarily women in Izmir aged between 15-49 and the public was raised on maternal health and reproductive health.

15. Promoting and Protecting the Human Rights of Women and Girls’ Urbanization through Literacy

Project Purpose
This project aimed to troubleshoot “literacy” problems, which has been the most important stage in the adaptation of women from in-migrant families to the city. It aimed to teach 1st and 2nd stage literacy courses to 80 women resettled in Uzundere Collective Site and provide preschool training to 30 children between the ages of 4 and 6 from among their children within the scope of supporting urban transformation project carried out by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with social transformation.

19. Integrated Programme for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Selected Industrial Areas in Izmir by 2003 (Automobile, Footwear and Garment Sectors)

Project Purpose
The aim of the project is to withdraw 1500 children under the age of 15 working in selected
industrial areas (auto repair, footwear, and garment) of Izmir from working life and put them back to education, prevent other children from working in these work places, improve working conditions of 2000 working children between the ages of 15 and 18, prevent 500 younger siblings from child labour, provide 1500 families with social services and alternative income sources.  As a result, 3479 children under the age of 15 were withdrawn from work and enrolled in primary school. 1000 children aged 15-18 were withdrawn from the worst forms of child labour and enrolled into the Apprenticeship Training Centres of the Ministry of Education.  The project has reached 6079 children in total.

To support the elimination of child labour in dangerous industries in Turkey through withdrawal of all children under the age of 15 working in the furniture sector in Izmir, Ankara and Bursa and to improve working conditions of all children between the ages of 15 and 18 working under dangerous conditions in these sectors.
